Painters Row Apartments, Adaptive Reuse

Adaptive Reuse: Historic Character Meets Modern Living

Painters Row Apartments shows the power of adaptive reuse. The project transformed historic paint warehouses into a vibrant residential community in Louisville’s Portland neighborhood. The development includes 71 Class B apartments that highlight the character of the original buildings. Exposed brick, wood beams, and restored windows preserve the site’s industrial charm.

Weber Construction partnered with Weyland Ventures to restore and adapt the structures. Together, they blended historic preservation with modern function. The community also includes shell space for mixed-use tenants, creating room for future growth and supporting neighborhood revitalization.

The project used historic tax credits and Opportunity Zone incentives for financing. It shows that preservation and innovation can work together. Today, Painters Row Apartments stands as a model of adaptive reuse. It honors the past while offering high-quality housing for the future.
